The Board of the UAI meets in Bangkok at the invitation of the Royal Society of Thailand

On January 26 and 27, the Board of the Union Académique Internationale met in Bangkok at the invitation of the Royal Society of Thailand to discuss research projects and academic cooperation between the Royal Society Board and the UAI.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Kanitthathiraj Maha Chakri Sirindhorn received on January 26, at Sa Pathum Palace, a delegation composed of members of the Royal Society of Thailand, led by its President, Prof. Dr. Surapone Virulrak, as well as a delegation of UAI members, led by its President, Prof. Dr. Klaus Herbers.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha also granted an audience to the UAI delegation, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Wissanu Krea-ngam, Deputy Prime Minister and Fellow of the Royal Society of Thailand, and by Mr. Anucha Nakasai, Minister attached to the Office of the Prime Minister.

The UAI Office then attended a series of lectures on Eastern philosophy and Buddhism organized by the Royal Society of Thailand at the Nai Lert Park Heritage, which resulted in fruitful exchanges. The Royal Society of Thailand organized for the members of the Board visits to various cultural sites, including the Royal Palace, Wat Pho, several sites in Ayutthaya and in the Bangkok area.
