National Museum of Danemark Medal for the Ancient Japanese Coinage project
Back to newsOn 13 December 2023, On 13 December 2023, the prestigious Danish National Museum Medal was awarded to Professors Peter Kornicki (University of Cambridge, FBA) and Shinichi Sakuraki (Asahi University) for the publication of a volume devoted to the William Bramsen collection of ancient Japanese coins. William Bramsen (1850-1881) was a specialist in the Asian world and, more specifically, ancient Japanese coins. The work undertaken by Professors Kornicki and Sakuraki to promote and catalogue his collection bears witness to the scientific value of this collection.
The UAI is particularly proud to announce this award, as the prize-winning work is the first publication of the "Japanese Ancient Coinage" project (project 94) adopted in 2019.
