Back to news

Among the 84 newly elected members of the British Academy in 2021, we find two well-known faces of the Members of the UAI. Our president, Professor Samuel Lieu, recognized for his work on the history of religions - in particular on Manichaeism and Christianity - in Central Asia and China, on the history of Late Roman and Early Byzantine Near East, as well as on the history of the Silk Road, was elected Fellow of the British Academy.

Professor Elżbieta Witkowska-Zaremba, Polish delegate, was elected Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy. Her work focuses on the history of music and music theory in Latin texts of the late Middle Ages and early modern era, as well as the reception of ancient writings on music up to 1600.
